10 Water quality control unit This system includes a control unit for the quality of the water, consisting of a pH probe and an electrical conductivity probe. The continuously measured values are recorded by the control system. When the measured values exceed the warning threshold, a message is sent by serial communication and displayed on the control screen. When the values exceed the alarm threshold, apart from sending and displaying messages as before, the control unit blocks the supply of water to the system. Note: the device for measuring the pH is usually set at the factory and is ready for use. If the error message TEMP appears then a parameter must be modified by following these instructions: press and hold the ℗ key for at least 2 seconds scroll using the UP/DOWN arrows to reach the ADMIN level press the ℗ key insert code 20 press the ℗ key scroll using the UP/DOWN arrows to reach the USER level and the sub-level TEMP (confirm the moves with the ℗ key) scroll using the UP/DOWN arrows to reach the SENS.T parameter press the key ℗ to change the value change the value from 1 to 0 (using the UP/DOWN arrows) press the ℗ key to confirm the value press the EXIT key to return to the start screen. The default set temperature has little effect on the measured pH value, within the range used by the system. During winter shutdown (ambient temperature <5°C) the control unit has to be put into safety standby condition. Even after the rest of the unit has been completely drained (ramps, water distribution piping etc.), some liquid remains (deliberately) in the probes reservoir of the control unit. This is in order to keep the probes immersed in liquid (necessary for their conservation, especially the pH probe). To avoid freezing causing damage to the system, the cap on the top of the reservoir must be removed and ethylene glycol added until the “full” level is reached. Replace the cap and wrap the reservoir with protective light-obscuring material. Warning: the probes must always be immersed in liquid (water or antifreeze mixture).
