11 Adiabatic panels and distribution system In the complete version of Emeritus, recovered water is collected in a tank positioned under the unit, at the header end. As a consequence, the unit must be inclined with an elevation of about 1cm/m. GENERAL REPPRESENTATION OF HOW TO POSITION THE MACHINE ATTENTION: please take care to the alignment between the adiabatic panel and the water distribution pipe located above. Even if the unit is installed inclined, the distribution pipe has to be horizontal. An inclination of the distribution pipe may bring to a not uniform water distribution on the panels. The adiabatic panels are designed to operate at ambient temperature between +5°C and +50°C The weight of the adiabatic panel alone is 6.3 kg for each fan ; the weight increases when wet by a factor of 3 on average. The standard water supply rate (water softened according to LU-VE standards) of the adiabatic panels is about 125 l/h for each fan, see chapter 4 for details. The system minimizes the number of on/off cycles of wetting the panel in order to avoid as much as possible the deposit of encrusting minerals. Flowmeter A flowmeter is used to control the water distributed on panels, in order to minimize the water consumption. DN11 connectors G3/4” (flowrate 120 to 2400 l/h) DN20 connectors G1” (flowrate 300 to 5100 l/h) Materials: EPDM - PA6T/6I (40%GF) - ETFE Power supply: 8-33VDC Output signal: 4-20mA Fluid temperature: <125°C Ambient temperature: -15°C a +85°C WARNING Maintenance operations must be carried out only by qualified personnel and in accordance with the safety regulations in force. The following outline specifies the ordinary periodic checks which the user has to undertake to maintain the machine in good condition. Note the following requirements must be carried out periodically to guarantee that the panel is cleaned correctly cleaned and functions properly. Mains water supply characteristics For the evaporative panel to function correctly, a pH level of between 6.5 and 8 has to be maintained, in order to avoid any problems of chemical aggression to it. In case of use of not treated water, is recommended that a hardness level of 250 ppm CaCO3 (25°f) is not exceeded. Water supply temperature less than 25°C. If the adiabatic panels are supplied with mains water (untreated), the flowrate mentioned above must be increased by 30% reaching 160 l/h for each fan.
